Dr. H.E.J. Veeger (1958), Department of Human Movement Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam & Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, section Biomedical Engineering, Delft University of Technology. After obtaining his masters in Human Movement Sciences in 1984, DirkJan Veeger continued his studies in London, where he obtained his MSc in Ergonomics from University College London. Since 1986, DirkJan Veeger has been affiliated to the Department of Human Movement Sciences, where he received his PhD in 1992 on Biomechanics of Wheelchair Propulsion. His main research interest lies in the field of musculoskeletal mechanics, and especially the upper extremity. Most profound research subject is the relationship between structure and function, which has been applied to the shoulder in wheelchair propulsion, the effect of surgical interventions such as tendon transfers on muscle function and ADL. Since 2000, Dr. Veeger also serves as Associate Professor at the Biomedical Engineering Department of Delft University of Technology, where he is responsible for research in the area of shoulder biomechanics. Dr. Veeger is chair of the International Shoulder Group, a technical group of the International Society of Biomechanics and member of the editorial board of Clinical Biomechanics. Dr. Veeger has authored over 100 papers in SCI-indexed journals. |
